The Story of Fordham Hill

Fordham Hill was built in 1950 by The Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States and was originally owned and operated by the Canal-Randolph Corporation as a rental property. The property was converted to a cooperative in 1982.

The property includes nine high-rise buildings with a total of 1,130 apartments. In addition to the main complex, the Housing Corporation owns a garage that is operated by an outside party, but provides discounted rates to Fordham Hill shareholders. The Cooperative also owns and operates a 30 unit rental building and owns vacant land that has potential for future development.

Our campus-like atmosphere and beautiful grounds is why Fordham Hill is often referred to as an “Oasis in the Bronx”. Our cooperative apartments are highly affordable, with 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments with beautiful views of the Harlem River and park-like grounds. Electric, cable, heat and hot water are included in the maintenance, which is 34% tax-deductible.

Fordham Hill is a gated community and has a central driveway for convenient loading and unloading of passengers and packages at your doorstep. All visitors are announced before they are permitted access to the property and your apartment. We are professionally managed by Argo Real Estate and have an onsite Management office. We also have an onsite Maintenance & Security Office and employ a staff of 50 building service employees including handymen, porters and security officers. There is a central package room that accepts deliveries on behalf of residents. The Package Room is open 7 days a week with convenient hours for our residents.

Fordham Hill is located in the University Heights section of the Bronx. Our location is perfect for recreation, shopping, education, worship, commuting to Manhattan, New Jersey and Westchester. We are minutes from all major transit and highways.
